No deal yet

The Zimbabwe crisis was high on the agenda at the SADC summit this weekend. It was envisaged that a deal between the major political parties would be reached before the summit ends but did not happen, although there is still hope since the negotiations are still continuing. The main opposition leader, Morgan Tsvangirai has demanded real power before signing any deal and says it is better not to have a deal than to have a bad deal. Botswana boycotted the summit protesting Mugabe's presence as head of State. Meanwhile , economic hardships are worsen particularly in the rural areas and there is need for urgent humanitarian intervention. the zimabwe government has banned humanitarian NGOs. on a lighter note, Kirsty Coventry won gold at the Olympics in China breaking the world record.
