Diamonds again

Now that Zimbabwe got permission to trade diamonds from Marange interesting things are happening. China declared to invest 700 million US dollar in mineral processing, while De Beers on the other hand said they will avoid diamonds from Marange.

While Zimbabwe is allowed to trade diamonds by the KP it does not have sufficient tools to create atransparent trade. The smuggling of diamonds for example has risen, which was acknowledged by Minister of Mines Mpofu when he heard that Mozambique (which does not have diamonds of its own) tried to join the KP.

Other news includes that the UN has raised concerns about the increasing violence and cases of typhoid have been discovered in Harare.
