Zimbabwe Watch is an independent coalition of organisations in the Netherlands that contributes to the creation of a democratic and prosperous Zimbabwe for all Zimbabweans. A Zimbabwe that respects human rights and treaties and its commitments to good governance, socio-economic development and the rule of law.
Zimbabwe Watch collaborates closely with its partners in Zimbabwe and the region in order to define the most pressing issues and actions as well as develop possible alternatives. In Europe, Zimbabwe Watch closely cooperates with likeminded organisations in the Zimbabwe Europe Network (ZEN).
What we stand for
Zimbabwe Watch aims to advance, promote and protect human rights in Zimbabwe and to strive towards democratic consolidation in Zimbabwe. The resolution of the crisis in Zimbabwe must be led by Zimbabweans themselves.
To actively contribute to their own future however, they need an enabling environment at local, national and international level. At the core of such an enabling environment stand civic and political rights such as freedom of speech, media and association. Zimbabweans must be able to organise freely and have access to a free media and full information, so that they can choose their leaders and hold them to account. International and regional solidarity and support are part and parcel of achieving such an enabling environment.
Wat we do
Zimbabwe Watch keeps Zimbabwe in the public and political spotlight through lobbying, communication work and networking.
