Zimbabwe off AU agenda after Mugabe lobbies chairman

Mugabe & Obiang Nguema

Zimbabwe will not be on the agenda at the next African Union summit, it has emerged, after President Robert Mugabe held talks with AU chairman and Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema in Harare this week. Other sources say Mugabe will use the AU summit later this month to lobby SADC leaders, saying the Unity Government should be disbanded.

Other news include ZMDC taking over Sino-Zim operations at Chiadzwa, and violent clashes in downtown Harare between vendors and riot police.

Lastly, the video an Australian woman bungee jumping at Victoria Falls was shown across the world, as the rope snapped and she plunged into the crocodile-infested Zambezi River. However, she miraculously survived and Zambia’s tourism minister Given Lubinda then made the bungee jump himself to reassure visitors.
