Road for recovery set out, major obstacles remain
The Zimbabwe inclusive government launched an economic recovery plan (STERP) set to lift Zimbabwe from the current crisis. Among the policy intervention was the Minister of finance's slashing of the budget presented in January from 1.7 billion USD to 1 billion USD. Launching the new plan, President Mugabe called for international assistance and an end to sanctions. In the meantime key issues such as the rule of law, freedom of expression and assembly or continued land invasions have not yet been addressed by the unity government.
