Not many changes in MDC-T leadership, Tsvangirai re-elected

Elias Mudzuri’s political fortunes took another nosedive during the party’s third national congress that ended in Bulawayo on Sunday as he was soundly defeated as the MDC-T’s organising secretary by Nelson Chamisa, the former party spokesperson. As was expected, there were not many changes at the top where Tsvangirai was re-elected party leader, unopposed, for the next five years.

Meanwhile the staffing of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has emerged as one of the remaining major sticking points in the construction of the election roadmap. Other contested issues are the role of the army, police and intelligence in electoral politics and elections.
