This afternoon hundreds of people walked over the Mandela Bridge in Johannesburg, dansing and zinging and holding up posters “Hoot for a free Zimababwe”. The whole brigde was hooting!

Apparently the Netherlands Embassy is not the only embassy in Zimbabwe to host MDC guests anymore. I have been told – and the radio just confirmed – that also the South African one has been transformed into a guesthouse harbouring about 150 people, MDC supporters. In the meantime South African president Mbeki snubbed an urgent summit of the SADC peace, security and XX organ to discuss Zimbabwe. Officially he said that he was not invited, bullocks. The summit concluded that Zimbabwe should postpone the elections. In the meantime South Africa is still spinning plans for a Government of National Unity for Zimbabwe – but without Tsvangira… Am curious to see how respectful a host the South African embassy will be to its MDC guests.
